CANTON — Charlie Todd fired a one-hitter, striking out 16 and walking none to back Canton’s baseball team to a 6-1 triumph over Potsdam on Saturday in Northern Athletic Conference Central Division showdown.
Todd also singled twice, drove in a run and scored two runs for the Golden Bears.
Also for Canton Parker Ames doubled, drove in two runs and scored a run.
Gavin Schryver, Zadok Roiger and John Ahlfeld each singled and scored a run for the Golden Bears with Ahfeld driving in a run.
Jaxon Bernard pitched three inning of scoreless balls striking out two while yielding a run and no walks in relief of starting pitcher Adam Cook.
OFA 6, MALONE 4
Winning pitcher Seth Sholette and Cam Griffith combined on a four-hitter as the Blue Devils topped the Huskies to win an NAC Central Division game.
Sholette allowed no runs through four innings and struck out six allowing just two hits in taking a 6-1 lead into the seventh inning when Griffith came on to record the save for Ogdensburg Free Academy.
Tyler Sovie doubled twice for the Blue Devils, who scored four runs in the sixth inning to prevail.
Malone starting pitcher Logan Peck, who pitched four scoreless innings, doubled and Bradley Shantie, Nolan Poupore and Nolan Hungerford singled.
LISBON 10, HERMON-DEKALB 2
Lucas Gravlin tossed a three-hitter, striking out 16 and allowing one earned run to back the Golden Knights to victory over the Demons in an NAC West Division game.
Gravlin also delivered two doubles and a single for Lisbon and Isaiah White connected for an RBI double.
Gavin Walrath doubled for Hermon-DeKalb and starting pitcher Noah McDonald stroked an RBI single.
In Central Division play, Massena defeated Norwood-Norfolk, 18-8, and Harrisville topped Brushton-Moira, 10-1, in a nonleague game played in Cooperstown.
LAFARGEVILLE 18, TOWN OF WEBB 2
Jeremy Shelley and LJ Humiston each doubled and singled twice with Shelley knocking in three runs and Humiston driving in two to pace the Red Knights to a road victory over the Timberwolves in a nonleague game.
Jayden Burns doubled and singled for LaFargeville (1-5) while Connor Derouin and JD Smith each doubled.
Bradley Smith tossed four shutout innings, striking out five and walking one, and Humiston pitched one inning to close out the game, which was shortened to five innings because of a mercy rule.
Gabe Lutz went 3-for-3 and drove in a run to lead Town of Webb (0-6).
SOFTBALL
HARRISVILLE 26, CLIFTON-FINE 0
Lila Stephenson spun her second no-hitter of the season, striking out seven, as the Pirates blanked the Eagles in the first game of a doubleheader in the NAC’s West Division.
McKenna Rose totaled three triples and double to lead Harrisville which also received two doubles from McKenna Peabody and three singles from Ava Bearor.
HARRISVILLE 38, CLIFTON-FINE 1
Ava Bearor twirled a two-hitter and Avery Chartrand hit for the cycle and added a second triple to pace the Pirates who completed a sweep of the Eagles.
Jaylin Fayette homered and doubled for Harrisville, Hailey Meagher tripled and hit two singles, McKenna Rose singled four times and Peyton Henry chipped in with three singles.
HERMON-DEKALB 5, LISBON 3
Freshman Maya Green struck out 10 in a complete-game effort as the Demons overcame 12 strikeouts from eighth grader Adia Richards to post a victory against the Golden Knights in an NAC West Division game.
Green, who walked only one, allowed just two base runners, blanking Lisbon over the last three innings as Hermon-DeKalb broke a 2-2 tie by scoring two runs in the fifth inning and one in the seventh.
Ava Besaw singled twice for the Demons.
Gabby Richardson singled and doubled for Lisbon, Adia Richards doubled and Ava Bouchey singled twice.
MORRISTOWN 26, EDWARDS-KNOX 10
Pitcher Makia Green and the Green Rockets weathered a rocky first inning and went on to defeat the visiting Cougars to win an NAC West Division outing.
After Edwards-Knox scored 10 runs on six hits in the top of the first, Morrisville answered with 14 runs in the bottom of the inning to take control.
Hunter Simmons drove in five runs in the first inning and doubled and singled overall for the Green Rockets and Raelee Downs drove in four runs in the opening inning.
Also for Morristown, Makia Green crushed a three-run home run, Issy Woodcock singled, doubled and tripled, Addie Graveline rapped a double and two singles and Jazmine Carpenter doubled and singled,
Kiana Hogle doubled and singled for Edwards-Knox.
In East Division play, St. Lawrence Central blanked Parishville-Hopkinton, 25-0, and, Gouverneur defeated Salmon River, 12-1, in a Central Division game.
DUANESBURG 7, HEUVELTON 3
Winning pitcher Allison Mienaltowski and Shannon Zink each doubled and singled to pace the Eagles past the Bulldogs to win a nonleague game at the Mudville Softball Fields in Herkimer.
Carley Simmons tripled and singled twice for Heuvelton, Addison Havens contributed a pair of singles and pitcher Chasity Johnson singled twice and doubled.
BATAVIA NOTRE DAME 18, HEUVELTON 0
Lorretta Sorochty pitched a two-hitter as Batavia Notre Dame defeated the Bulldogs later in the day, also in Herkimer.
Also in Herkimer, Duanesburg defeated Madrid-Waddington, 21-1, in the first game of the day, and then
Batavia Notre Dame blanked Madrid-Waddington, 7-0;
While OFA was dealt a pair of defeats, 18-4 to Caledonia-Mumford, and then a 14-1 setback to Keshequa.
